Jani Sivén ![]() Jani Sivén is described by his colleagues as “full of energy, passionate and exacting”. Born in 1971, he formed his first choir at the age of 16 and nowadays calls himself a jack of all musical trades: choir leader, conductor, singer, player and composer. He sang in the Cantores Minores boys’ choir for ten years and has a close affection for music of the Baroque, the performing conventions of which he has studied with Andrew Lawrence-King, Peter Kooy and others. He divides his time between the Audite chamber choir as well as the Sinfonietta Soi and the Helsinki Concordia orchestras, of which he is Artistic Director. Meanwhile he has also guest conducted the Finnish and Latvian Radio Choirs, the choir of the Finnish National Opera, and many orchestras. Since gaining a diploma in choral conducting from the Sibelius Academy in 1996, Jani Sivén has polished his orchestral and choral conducting skills with Murry Sidlin at Aspen and with Eric Ericson, Per Borin and others. At the Tampere Vocal Music Festival in 1999 he won the special prize for a promising young choral conductor and in 2000 he was chosen as Choral Conductor of the Year. |
