Eija Mizohata

Eija Mizohata is a fashion designer by training but has more experience of stage design. In her work she focuses mainly on the visual design of operas, but she has also worked with dance, spoken theatre and short films, assisted other designers, coordinated tours for the Finnish National Opera, the Savonlinna Opera Festival and others and done and implemented the designs for various galas and events. She has designed the sets and costumes for over 30 operas (such as Verdi’s Aida and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly for the Vaasa Opera Foundation), for productions by the Helsinki Skaala Opera and the Helsinki Conservatory and Polytechnic (Handel’s Almira, Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld) and has done work regularly for the Sibelius Academy since 2002.
