Anna Lindal

Anna Lindal studied with Sven Karpe in Stockholm and Aida Stucki in Switzerland. For a long time she was a member of the French-Swedish Trio des Lyres string trio distinguishing itself for its exciting repertoire combinations all over Europe. She spent 1983-2001 as leader of the Stockholm Philharmonic. In 2002 she was granted a visiting professorship at the Royal Music Academy and has since immersed herself in teaching. She has, however, by no means shelved her own concert career. Just recently she has been the soloist in the Violin Concerto by Anders Hillborg with the Bergen Philharmonic, in the Violin Concerto by Marie Samuelsson with the Royal Philharmonic and in the Violin Concerto by Alban Berg with the Norrland Opera Symphony Orchestra. She has premiered and played many works in the contemporary repertoire and a number of composers have written specially for her. Anders Hillborg’s Concerto can be heard on CD with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. On top of all this, Anna Lindal is an excellent improviser.
