Tiina-Maija Koskela
Mezzo-soprano Tiina-Maija Koskela graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2008 as a pupil of Seppo Ruohonen, having also studied Lied and oratorio with Marjut Hannula, Petteri Salomaa, Ilmo Ranta and others and spent the 2007/08 season at the Brussels Conservatory, where her teacher was Udo Reinemann. She has sung the Mozart roles of Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro and Annio in La clemenza di Tito, and the Cock, the Woodpecker and Frantík in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen. In 2006 she sang Ramiro in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera and won acclaim for her performance as Nancy in Britten’s Albert Herring in Helsinki. Her repertoire also includes the Dvorák and Mozart Requiems, Bach’s St John Passion and other sacred and concert works. Tiina-Maija Koskela won the second prize in the 2006 Timo Mustakallio Competition at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the first prize in the 2008 Lappeenranta Singing Competition.
