Markus Kaarto

Markus Kaarto is in his last year at the Sibelius Academy as a pupil of Tuulia Ylönen. Born in 1982, he does gigs as an extra in Helsinki-region orchestras and is an active chamber musician. This autumn he can be heard as a soloist with the Sibelius Academy Orchestra and in the clarinet section of the Tampere Philharmonic. In addition to the modern clarinet he has studied instruments and performing conventions of the Classical era with Gili Rinot. He has received a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and other sources for his study of period instruments.
