Janne Suutarinen
Janne Suutarinen’s work as a stage director has fanned out into various fields of drama. He has both directed and written plays for the theatre and radio, music theatre, operas and films. There is, however, a clear balance behind this diversity: whereas the dramas in his private life have levelled off, they have increasingly featured on the stage. The driving force is his curiosity about humans and humanity, the challenge to represent them as profoundly as possible. His recent projects have included “The Countess” (Kreivitär – Grevinnan), a portrait of singer Aulikki Rautavaara (Taite opera group, 2007) and “Treasure Island” (Aarresaari), the classic about good vs evil (Kajaani City Theatre, 2008).
