Perttu Haapanen ![]() Picture: Saara Vuorjoki/Fimic Perttu Haapanen studied Composition at the Sibelius Academy, 1994-2002 with Erkki Jokinen and Paavo Heininen (Master of Music degree in 2002). Composition master classes in Porvoo 1995-2000 with Jouni Kaipainen, Magnus Lindberg and Kaija Saariaho, and Avignon 2000 with Jonathan Harvey and Michael Jarrell. Electronic music at Ircam in 2004. Disturbances workshop in Copenhagen, 2003. Works: Chamber opera Solity:d (2003), Saxophone Concerto (2003), Sphinx Flowers for chamber orchestra, Ladies' Room (2007) for soprano and chamber orchestra, selected to the recommended works in the Dublin Rostrum, 2008, choral work Khoorg (2000), selected to the recommended works in the Vienna Rostrum, 2003 and choral work ...sino phonia, paronomasia. (2005) Performances in several concert series and festivals in Europe, Asia and USA, a. o. Musica nova Helsinki, Nordic Music Days, ISCM festival, Wien Modern and Lincoln Center's Great Performers Series. Composition concerts: Sibelius Academy, 2004 and Musica nova Helsinki, 2007. Solity:d is an artificial-language chamber opera – a music drama concentrating on how things are said rather than what; on pre-and post-verbalism. The text becomes part of the musical material. Staging the work adds a vital new dimension to the interpretation of the words and music. |
