Galante

The singers in the Galante choir celebrating its 20th anniversary this year are girls aged 9-14 led by Saara Perkola (MMus). The choir has a varied repertoire, taking in the children’s choir parts in operas and ranging from contemporary music to light. It has twice served as the children’s choir in Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel: at the Helsinki Conservatory in 2007 and the Helsinki Finnish-speaking Adult Education Centre in 2008. Two years ago it performed Benjamin Britten’s St. Nicolas Cantata with the Audite chamber choir and Sinfonietta Soi conducted by Jani Sivén. The choir can also frequently be heard unaccompanied, both on its own and together with other Suomen Kuoro-opisto choirs.
