Helsinki Concordia

The players in Helsinki Concordia are students at the Helsinki Conservatory. This chamber orchestra, which has received positive feedback at chamber music and orchestral events, has represented the Conservatory abroad, such as in Estonia, the Faeroe Islands and Berlin. Its most recent disc, Suomalaisia sävelkuvia, dates from 2001. Each year the orchestra rehearses repertoire for 3-4 concerts in addition to joining in various co-productions. On its programme for this season are Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals and a concert to be held with the Audite chamber choir in honour of the Haydn and Mendelssohn jubilees. Next spring the orchestra will go on tour to Manchester. Helsinki Concordia has been conducted since autumn 2004 by Jani Sivén and its leader is Pauliina Ylinen.
