Don’t Look Back

Don’t Look Back runs from its very beginning on a direct course towards its own obliteration. The piece works against its own existence. Its paradox is that the work only exists because of its own destruction. Its form originates from the phenomenon that the structure of the composition arises from the amputation of the instruments and the title refers to the uncompromising spirit of the work - the impossibility of turning back once the first step has been taken. The quintet is written to the Ensemble Black Hair for the SPOR-festival in Aarhus 2006.
