The Avanti! Quartet

The Avanti! Quartet is the foremost offshoot of the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, now one of the leading chamber orchestras in the Nordic countries and born in 1983 of a need felt by keen, first-rate musicians to make quality music together. The members of the Quartet are Anna-Leena Haikola and Anna Hohti (violin), Tuula Riisalo (viola) and Mikko Ivars (cello). Hohti and Riisalo have been members from the very beginning, Haikola since 2000 and Ivars since 2002. Formed in 1984, the Quartet has premiered numerous works and its members all occupy active, focal positions in orchestras and at festivals in Finland. Today’s Avanti! trio consists of Anna-Leena Haikola, Tuula Riisalo and Mikko Ivars.
