Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir
Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir has been a music teacher and choir director for 39 years. She founded the Hamrahlíð College Choir and later the Hamrahlíð Choir; the two choirs have provided over a thousand young people with a musical upbringing. Many composers, from Iceland and other countries, have composed works for Þorgerður and her choirs, which have premiered about 100 new choral works over the years. With the Hamrahlíð Choir, Þorgerður has held concerts around the world, giving priority to presenting Icelandic music. She has received many awards for her work, and participated in international collaboration in the field of music. She is a music consultant to the Europa Cantat choir festival, sits on the jury of the Choir Olympics, and represents Iceland on the Nordic Music Committee, NOMUS.
