Anna Guðný Guðmundsdóttir
Anna Guðný Guðmundsdóttir completed her soloist´s examination at Reykjavík College of Music in 1979. She continued her studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music, where she received her Post Graduate diploma with a focus on chamber music and lieder accompaniment.
Anna Guðný has appeared as a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra (including performances of Messiaen’s Des Canyons aux Étoiles, under the baton of Paul Zukofsky, and concertos by Atli Heimir Sveinsson and Leifur Þórarinsson) and has performed with various other groups, ensembles and singers. She has travelled widely, both with the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra and with soprano Sigrun Hjalmtysdottir, and has given concerts around Iceland, as well as in the northern countries, numerous places in Europe, Japan, Canada, China, and the United States. Her performances can be heard on numerous CDs. She received a nomination as "Performer of the year" in 2004 at the Icelandic Music Price.
Anna Guðný Guðmundsdóttir taught at the Iceland Academy of the Arts´ music department from its foundation in 2001 until 2005 when she was appointed pianist of the Iceland Symphony Orhcestra.
