Áki Ásgeirsson

Áki Ásgeirsson was born 1975 in Keflavík, Iceland. He studied in Keflavik Music School, Reykjavik College of Music and The Royal Concervatory in The Hague, The Netherlands.

He has written instrumental music and music with instruments and computer.

Aki has been active as a trumpet player, mostly with experimental improvisation ensembles. Description of Aki's SensorTrumpet (electronic trumpet add-on's to interact with a computer) can be found at www.bjarmaland.net/trompet

Software projects include GeMusE, a realtime interactive notation rendering program. It eliminates the use of paper in music performance, replacing it with a VGA monitor (LCD or a video projector) allowing the performer to interact instantly with the score.

Aki is a co-founder of Aton Ensemble (www.aton-ensemble.tk), S.l.a.t.u.r. (Icelandic composer group, www.slatur.tk), Saeborg (improvisation ensemble), Kokteilsosa (concert series) and other bands and institutions.

Currently Aki lives in Reykjavik.
