Regions (7’ 20”)

Premiered april 2004, Amsterdam.
Regions was composed during the winter 2003-2004 in Finland and in Holland. The composition has four sections. The first section operates in high registers with irregular rhythms descending towards a more calm second section. The third section has some qualities similar to the first section such as the cluster chords that are shrinking while climbing into a high unisono situation. The unisono is rapidly followed by broader harmonic situations. The fourth section reaches quickly the bass register serving as some kind of conclusion to the descending qualities throughout the piece.
